A Walk On The Wild Side...

I've just finished reading an awe-inspiring book; Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed. In this true story - now a film starring Reese Witherspoon - Cheryl embarks on a "spirit walk" on a 1100 mile stretch known as the Pacific Crest Trail.

Naturally, afterwards, I experienced a compulsive urge to set off with my own hiking boots and backpack...

The slightly less ambitious 4-mile walk along an East Neuk stretch of the Fife Coastal Path - Pittenweem to Elie - is a beautiful route and it finishes with a lovely little beer garden overlooking Elie's big sandy beach.  It felt especially good to be out walking beneath striking blue skies, on a beautifully crisp Sunday in February. Spring is definitely in the air and with it, endless possibilities! Who knows where the trail will lead?

As a voice of wisdom once said...

"the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step."
